West of the Moon Party

DJ Mark Devlin

Editor of Blues and Soul's "Club hoppin"
will be appearing with Alan & Rick.
Room Red, Friday 14th July '06

Mark has been DJing professionally since 1990, landing his first radio Job in 1996 on Bristol's Galaxy 101 presenting Friday night's R&B and Hip Hop show "The Swing Shift" ever since then his talents have taken him on adventures across the world covering music events as both a DJ and Journalist for various music magazines. His past gigs list reads resembles an atlas index! His sessions started close to home in the likes of London's Ministry of Sound, Hanover Grand, Corks and The Scala but his global world tour locations over the past four summers have been as far afield as Sydney, Melbourne, Johannesburg, Cape Town, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Montreal, Tokyo, Taipei, Dubai, Ayia Napa, Ibiza, Tenerife, Prague, Amsterdam, Vienna, Montreux, Brussels, Dublin, Belfast, and literally all over Germany! Not restricted to just the club events his complementary radio mixes broadcast have been broadcast in several of these locations.

In particular, Mark has become something of a celebrity in South Africa through the series of mixes he contributes to the Breakfast Show on Metro FM, the national urban music station. It was this period that inspired the setting up of his personal website, www.markdevlin.co.uk to chart his activities, and the launch of his ongoing series of mix tapes and CDs, which are always well-received by punters and industry heads alike. He currently writes hip hop reviews for "Touch", and has contributed to both "Mixmag" and "Muzik". But his main role since 1998 has been as Editor of the "Clubhoppin'" section of "Blues & Soul", easily the most comprehensive set of UK urban music club listings anywhere. Mark will be returning to Room Red (last appearing in June 2005) to cover a night for Blues and Soul's Clubhoppin'. So get your dancing shoes on and get down in room red on July 14th!
