Tim Westwood broadcasts nationally on BBC Radio 1 from 9pm - 11pm every Friday and Saturday night to over one million listeners. Tim is regarded as one of the most influential figure in Hip Hop throughout Europe and as a pioneer of the UK scene.
Westwood began as a DJ on pirate radio LWR, followed by one of the co-owners of Kiss FM during the station’s pirate years. After presenting the Rap Show on Capital FM for seven years, he joined Radio 1 in December 1994. Westwood has also hosted his own television show on ITV’s Night Network and has presented and co-produced several music documentaries. In August 2000 he hosted and co-produced a series for UK Play called ‘Westwood Presents’ featuring Dr Dre, LL CoolJ, Busta Rhymes, Funkmaster Flex and many more. 2001 saw the first release of his first CD Westwood The Album Vol 1, it sold more than 100,000 copies. By the end of the year the follow up ‘Westwood’ was out on Def Jam UK with a full Tour to support its release. Four years later Westwood’s latest CD is “Heat” Vol 9
Most recently you may have caught him in the UK version of MTV’s Pimp my Ride where he finds the biggest wrecks and they are converted into turbo powered dream machines. This year Westwood hosted the main stage at the Notting Hill Carnival, an event which attracts over a million people every August Bank Holiday, he also organizes all the top UK and US acts to perform at this event.
Currently Westwood is touring the UK’s best venues with the Reebok sponsored “Fresher’s Tour” Tim recently picked up his 4th MOBO award for the UK Radio DJ of the Year.
