In association with Sony Music.
Room Red, Sat 9th April
THE UKS BIGGEST URBAN MUSIC TOUR

This year The Urban Essentials Tour enters its twelfth year. It was the first tour to be launched by an R&B DJ in this country. The Urban Essentials Tour has grown and grown and in 2002 it officially became the biggest urban music tour in the UK and has not looked back since. Playing to more towns, more clubs and more people than any other DJ, Bigger has established himself in amongst the elite urban DJ’s in the UK. In the past six years Bigger has been voted third twice, second twice and number 1 R&B DJ twice in one of the leading magazine polls.

The Southport Weekender is the biggest event of its kind in Europe, promoter Alex Lowe commented. The Funkbase (The R&B Room at the event) started off in a small room of less than 400. Six years ago that all changed when the room was full and 100’s were left outside on the Friday and Saturday Night and we had nothing but complaints. So it was moved into a room that held 1500 and sometimes that still isn’t enough. The Funkbase was built around Bigger and Trevor Nelson. Bigger has been coming here for twelve years now, he will be here until he retires! That is the kind of respect we have for him.

It has not been uncommon for Bigger to play three clubs in one night New Years Eve for example and in one amazing 7day period on the tour he played Reading, Northampton, Southport, Newcastle, Glasgow, Bournemouth and Torquay. It is officially the biggest “Urban Music Tour “ in the UK playing to more people more towns and more clubs than any other tour. This amazing tour is the only DJ tour to be sponsored by music industry giants “Sony”. The tour has broke attendance records throughout the UK and Europe constantly.

Bigger has been one of the UK’s most respected and influential R&B radio Presenters / DJ’s for sometime. The last seven years have seen him rise to the top in his field. His critically acclaimed radio show “Urban Essentials” has picked up various awards and accolades from the industry and magazines. The show has become that big that it is the most listened to urban music show in Soul City’s broadcast area and is sponsored by clothing giant “Ben Sherman”. On “Urban Essentials” Bigger has interviewed the biggest R&B acts in the world for example Destiny’s Child, Usher, R Kelly, 50 Cent, Craig David, Donell Jones, Nelly, Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys, Ja Rule, Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Kelly Rowland, Beyonce’, Black Eyed Peas, Ashanti and many more. Five years ago Bigger was approached by digital radio station Solar Radio, which offered him the chance to go nationwide and worldwide and his show is by far the most listened to show on the station. The show has also spawned several successful compilation albums and a magazine all aptly titled “Urban Essentials”.
