Nu-Soul Promotions was started by DJ’s Bob Jeffries and Alisdair Hood. The idea was to play soulful house and garage alongside modern soul. The first nights were held at Loudoun Castle in Galston with guest DJ Terry Jones from London (Soul 24-7, Togetherness weekender) with Bob, Alisdair, Brian McGarry and Gordon Miller as residents. These sessions not only attracted local Ayrshire people but clubbers from the North East of England and London.

The playlist in one room consisted of soulful house and disco classics while the other featured soul from the seventies through to the latest releases. Due to the Castle changing owners a new venue was sought and the team moved to Colors Nightclub in Kilmarnock taking over both upstairs rooms. Nu-Soul began introducing more guests to their nights with Billy Davidson (Southport ) and Bob Jones (London).

The good news for Ayr is that Nu-Soul will now be bringing it's soulful flavours to Room Red on the first Saturday of every month.
